MONEY – Trade 20/04/17 – BUY British Smaller Companies VCT (BSV)

May 10, 2017 Dick Morris

Actually, it’s a top-up. I tried to buy more of these earlier in the year when they issued more shares but wasn’t able to do so. Since the company is a VCT, any purchase of newly issued shares can be counted against income tax. I had to buy in the market. Consequently, I shall not be able to save tax on this purchase, however, the dividends will be tax-free if the share is held for five years. And the dividends have been good, very good. My view is that this constitutes an excellent bet for a small part of a portfolio.  (The opinions expressed in this post are mine, and mine alone. They should not be taken as investment advice.)
